Doubao Now Cites Douyin 3x More as Video Becomes a Key AI Source

A report by NewRank shows video is shifting from a "minor supplement" to a "main source" for AI citations. Doubao, a Chinese AI assistant, now gets 31.8% of its citations from Douyin, up from 10.79% in May - nearly tripling in 3 months. One in every three cited items comes from Douyin.

Baidu also added Bilibili and Haokan Video to its source library for the first time in June, with a combined weight of 12%. Video platforms are clearly gaining ground as AI information sources.

The report says the semantic similarity between video titles and user questions links closely to citation counts: Douyin's average citations rose from 2.29 to 3.46 (+51%), and Bilibili's from 2.54 to 3.67 (+44%). Keyword coverage is an even stronger signal, with a correlation of +0.157, higher than semantic similarity's +0.117.

The report advises creators to write titles that match how users ask, put key question words in titles, and keep semantic similarity high to boost their chances of being cited by AI.
