Famous Lawyer Says AI Will Cut Redundant Litigation and Speed Up Case Settlements or Trials

Alex Spiro, a partner at Quinn Emanuel's New York office who often works for Elon Musk, said AI could greatly cut down on redundant litigation procedures in the legal industry, helping more cases settle quickly or go straight to court. Spiro has represented Alec Baldwin, rapper Jay-Z, and other well-known figures. Spiro pointed out that AI tools can help lawyers quickly figure out whether a case is worth fighting. He said AI can remove many unnecessary steps, speeding up the process of finding facts and sorting through information. In his view, many tedious middle procedures could be cut, so cases would either settle fast or go straight to trial. He also believes AI could increase the number of cases that go to trial. With fast case analysis, lawyers can better judge which cases are worth fighting instead of settling out of fear of risk. However, Spiro stressed that AI won't change his litigation strategy, and jurors won't change because of AI. What changes is mainly the efficiency of gathering materials.
