Judge rules Anthropic must face Claude Max usage limit claims
A US federal magistrate judge, Alex Tse, ruled that Anthropic must keep facing the main claims that its Claude Max plan misled consumers, while dismissing other claims in the case.
Anthropic says its $100 and $200 monthly Max plans offer 5x and 20x the usage of the Pro plan. But two buyers found that weekly limits were only 6x and 3.5x the Pro level, far below what was advertised.
The gap comes from how limits are counted. Max users do get 5x or 20x per 5-hour window, but weekly caps don't scale the same way. The judge said users pay monthly, so it's fair to expect monthly limits, and the case can move ahead on misrepresentation and breach of contract claims.
