Google's AI Agent Gemini Spark Hits Mac, Expanding Desktop AI Competition
Google has launched its AI agent Gemini Spark on macOS, integrating it into the existing Gemini desktop app. It can read local files, organize documents, and generate Google Workspace files—like turning invoices into a budget spreadsheet. The update adds support for Google Tasks and Google Keep, plus third-party apps like Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, and Zillow, enabling tasks such as restaurant bookings, grocery shopping, and poster design. Gemini Spark also features real-time topic tracking for sports scores, stock prices, and news. Google plans to support custom Model Context Protocol (MCP) for personalized AI agents. The beta is available to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US only.
