Hainan bans AI from writing prescriptions for drugs
Hainan's drug regulator has issued new rules to stop AI from writing prescriptions and fake online consultations. Now, prescription drugs must be sold only with a valid doctor's prescription, and pharmacies are banned from using internet hospitals that do fake consultations or AI prescriptions.
The new rules require a double-check system: a doctor writes the prescription and a pharmacist reviews it, to stop the old habit of selling drugs first and getting a prescription later. They also set clear rules for online drug sales, saying internet hospitals must have proper licenses and can't give prescriptions for first-time visits. All drugs must be tracked from factory to patient.
