Honor's robot 'Lightning' runs 100m in 9.32s at World Humanoid Robot Games
The second World Humanoid Robot Games opened in Beijing. Honor's robot 'Lightning' ran 100 meters in 9.32 seconds, hitting a top speed of 14.5 m/s, beating the human world record. The event, organized by Beijing's government, has 50 contests. Except for the 100m and 400m hurdles, all events must be fully autonomous.
'Lightning' will compete in the 100m, 400m, and 1500m races. The team lengthened its legs to 1.05 meters, like a long-distance runner, and improved joint torque and response. For the 100m, it uses a vision system with a camera on the hip; the 400m adds radar to stay on track.
