Huawei's New Phones Let You Download AI Models for Offline Use

Huawei's upcoming Pura X View and Mate XT 2 phones will let you download and run AI models right on the device. You can choose between a multimodal enhanced model (about 6GB) or a multimodal mixture-of-experts model (about 15GB). Both work offline, so no internet needed.

The smaller model handles things like local image generation, voice synthesis, AI camera enhancement, photo editing, and text-to-speech. The bigger one understands complex tasks and can control apps, like organizing photos offline.

Back in August, Huawei already pushed HarmonyOS 7.0.0.102 SP8, which lets supported phones check local model versions and details. This new release aims to push on-device AI further in mobile devices.
