Huawei's Xiaoyi Scores High in Physics Olympiad Theory Test
The 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2026) theory test has ended. Huawei announced that its AI assistant Xiaoyi scored 28.6 out of 30, beating the gold medal line. The test covered complex physics topics like fluid dynamics, relativistic scattering, optics, and magnetic refrigeration, challenging even top physics students.
Huawei said this shows Xiaoyi's ability to solve tough science problems and handle multi-modal tasks. Xiaoyi is Huawei's own AI assistant, offering features like Q&A, writing, and coding, and works on phones, tablets, cars, and more.
In June, Xiaoyi integrated the open-source openPangu 2.0 Pro model, which is optimized for Ascend computing power and offers twice the throughput of other mainstream models, boosting Hongmeng system-level task performance.
