Huawei's Xiaoyi scores perfect 42 to win IMO 2026 gold

Huawei's AI assistant Xiaoyi won a gold medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2026) with a perfect score of 42. This shows Xiaoyi's ability to solve problems in algebra, geometry, number theory, and combinatorics.

Huawei says this marks a breakthrough in complex problem modeling, long-chain reasoning, tool coordination, and strict verification. Xiaoyi is Huawei's own AI assistant and works on phones, tablets, watches, smart screens, cars, and PCs.

Earlier, Xiaoyi integrated the open-source openPangu 2.0 Pro model. This model boosts task execution on HarmonyOS and delivers twice the throughput per GPU card compared to other major open-source models.
