iQiyi Announces AIGC Film Project Shortlist, 10 Chinese Commercial Movies Move Forward
iQiyi announced on July 31 that the "Peter Pau · iQiyi Film Theater" project has finalized its shortlist, with 10 AIGC Chinese commercial movie projects moving into development. These projects will receive full guidance from cinematographer Peter Pau, support from the Napro Pro filmmaking platform, and investment and promotion from iQiyi, aiming to complete feature films over 60 minutes long.
The selected projects span genres including sci-fi, adventure, action, suspense, women's growth, emotion, animation, fantasy, horror, and comedy. Among them, the sci-fi project "Snow Child 2085" is inspired by the classic animation "Snow Child," featuring a robot hatching an egg to save Earth's last hope. The animated work "Qiji Flying Car" draws from the mythical classic "Shan Hai Jing" and impressed with its flying car visual concept. "Path of Embers" focuses on a female rider's self-growth and redemption after a forest fire. "My Mom Didn't Raise Me Well" reinterprets intimate relationships through a body-swap premise.
Other projects include "River God: Yin and Yang River," adapted from the suspense IP "River God," "Bomb Dog," which blends cyber fighting with real crime, "Great Black Sky," exploring father-son bonds in a horror setting, "Confession of a Killer," integrating AI into crime and emotion narratives, "Tidal Erosion," examining human desires through ruin exploration, and "Crazy Dopamine," a comedic love adventure with a high-concept sci-fi setup. Peter Pau, known for winning the Oscar for Best Cinematography for "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," is the first non-American Chinese cinematographer to achieve this honor.
