Jensen Huang Rejects AI Doom Predictions: Zero Chance of Apocalypse in 2030
Nvidia co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang said in a recent CBS News interview that he disagrees with claims by some researchers that AI could wipe out humanity within a few years, calling such doomsday narratives overblown.
Huang was responding to former Anthropic researcher Jacob Kocson, who criticized Anthropic and OpenAI for racing to build self-improving superintelligence and gambling with human lives, sparking widespread public debate.
Huang said these predictions lack scientific basis. He believes existing U.S. product liability and cybersecurity laws are sufficient, and no new AI regulation is needed. On U.S.-China AI competition, he opposed banning U.S. tech exports to China, saying every chip company should compete globally.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Huang's net worth is $182 billion, ranking him the world's eighth-richest person. On California's upcoming "billionaire tax" vote, he said he does not oppose paying more taxes, calling it a privilege and a responsibility.
