Jensen Huang Rejects Hinton's AI Doom Predictions as Harmful and Unscientific
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently pushed back on AI doomsday warnings from Geoffrey Hinton, known as the 'Godfather of AI.' Hinton had warned that if AI goes out of control, there is a 10% to 20% chance it could cause social collapse or even threaten human survival.
Huang rejected those predictions as lacking scientific evidence. He said that just because a scientist says something doesn't make it science, and that such claims are harmful and irresponsible. Huang added, 'I love Hinton, but I hate his predictions.'
Huang worries these alarming statements could have a negative impact on society. If young people constantly hear that AI will replace humans, they may feel pessimistic about the future and even decide not to go to college. He called for a more rational and mature approach based on objective evidence when discussing AI's development.
