Kimi K3 tops front-end dev list; founder's mentor reveals why he returned to China
Since the release of Kimi K3, it has stayed at the top of front-end development charts globally, putting Chinese AI startup Moonshot AI in the spotlight. Yang Zhilin's PhD advisor, CMU professor Russ Salakhutdinov, revealed in July that Yang had a chance to join Apple but chose to return to China to start his own company.
Salakhutdinov said he discussed Yang with an Apple executive, but Yang was determined to go back. Yang told his mentor that he would regret it for life if he didn't at least try to build his own company. Another CMU professor, Ma Jian, praised Yang for his sharp thinking and genuine curiosity about topics beyond his own research.
