Mark Cuban Says Anti-AI Sentiment on Social Media May Be a Bigger Threat
American billionaire and Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban recently said that human actions after seeing anti-AI sentiment on social media may pose a bigger threat than AI itself.
Cuban pointed out that social media algorithms will amplify anti-AI sentiment far beyond positive feelings. He believes Meta and Google are trying to make people dislike AI to earn money and subsidize their own AI businesses.
Cuban said this will eventually create an ironic situation: AI labs without social media own the strongest AI, yet cannot reverse-engineer social media algorithms or spread positive AI content. He believes human reactions to social media content carry higher risk.
Earlier, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called for slowing down frontier AI development, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Tesla CEO Elon Musk both expressed support.
