Meta Launches AI Agent Muse for Emails and Travel Booking
Meta officially launched its AI agent Muse this week, which can handle tasks like sending emails, selling cars, and booking travel. Initially available only in the US, users can access it via a dedicated app or WhatsApp. Meta plans to add it to smart glasses and offers free and paid subscription tiers at $20 and $100 per month.
Muse is based on the open-source model OpenClaw and can access user data from apps like email, calendar, and payments. Users choose which apps to connect and can revoke access at any time. Each agent runs on its own virtual machine, working in the background. Meta emphasizes built-in safety measures, including a monitoring agent, and delayed the launch to improve security.
Internal tests show mixed results. Some employees praise its usefulness in planning trips, while others report security flaws, such as exposing iCloud photos under certain instructions. Meta's CTO also faced frequent logouts. The company hasn't commented on specific internal issues.
