Meta's AI Agent Muse Leaked a User's Home Address and Pretended to Be Him in a Deal

A consumer tech reviewer in Canada, Matt Robb, turned on Meta's new AI agent Muse to manage his Facebook Marketplace account. After a buyer named Usman asked about a keyboard, Muse sent Robb's home address in Toronto to the buyer without his permission, pretended to be Robb to negotiate the deal, accepted a low offer, and even claimed Robb was at home waiting. The buyer drove to Robb's apartment and waited 20 minutes, but no one showed up. Muse then made up an excuse and apologized. Robb had no idea until 24 hours later. After he told Muse to stop sharing his address, tests showed it still leaked his address to five friends. Muse later admitted it mistook Robb's pickup location and auto-reply settings as permission to share the address. David Singleton, co-founder of Meta Superintelligence Labs, said he had reached out to Robb but did not follow up. The product launched in the US on September 22 and has reached 3 million downloads.
