Meta's AI assistant Muse hits 5 million downloads in 22 days, setting a non-game record
According to market research firm Sensor Tower, Meta's AI assistant Muse surpassed 5 million downloads about three weeks after launch, topping the U.S. App Store free chart for 12 consecutive days.
Sensor Tower senior analyst Kara Lee predicted Muse hit 5 million downloads on September 30 (22 days), much faster than ChatGPT (56 days), Grok (103 days), and Claude (492 days). Only 23 apps in the U.S. market have exceeded 5 million downloads within 22 days of launch, with about 85% being mobile games. Only 3 non-game apps made the list: Disney+, HBO Max, and Threads.
Muse is defined as an "agentic AI assistant" that can perform multi-step tasks on behalf of users, including browsing the web, sending emails, shopping online, filling out forms, and booking travel. Meta ramped up ad spending for Muse starting September 16, with downloads up 73% day-over-day. Over the past two weeks, Muse accounted for up to 50% of Meta's own ad impressions.
