Musk Predicts AI Will Boost Global Economy and Warns of Power Shortage
At the G20 meeting, Elon Musk said AI could boost the global economy by 20% to 30%, adding $20-30 trillion each year. He expects that by the end of 2027, AI will handle all digital tasks without human help.
Musk also predicted that AI coding will reach 'Stockfish level' next year, making humans unable to compete in software development. Within 12-18 months, AI will be extremely capable in engineering and other digital fields.
Regarding humanoid robots, Musk expects over 1 billion units worldwide in the next 10 years, each at least five times as productive as a human, potentially expanding the global economy tenfold.
He warned of an AI power shortage, predicting a 15-gigawatt gap by 2027. He suggested other countries build power plants, host AI data centers, and tax them as an opportunity.
