Musk Shares Grok Roadmap, Says Grok 5 May Be Key to AGI

American entrepreneur Musk said on X that xAI's Grok 4.7 is roughly on par with Anthropic Opus 5.0, but its multimodal performance still needs fixing. He said Grok 4.8 will bring clear improvements, Grok 4.9 may match OpenAI Astra or Anthropic Fable, and Grok 5 could surpass everything available now.

When asked how close Grok 4.8 is to AGI, Musk replied that it would be Grok 5. He previously said Grok 4.8 would finish training this week, with 2.5 trillion parameters and a new C++ software stack.
