New AI review system at WAIC 2026, acceptance rate 20.21%
On July 18, the 2026 World AI Conference (WAIC) kicked off in Shanghai. A new academic platform, launched by China for global AI researchers, aims to bring back the true spirit of academic sharing.
The conference introduced a three-step review system: first, an AI checks papers for format and logic; then, committee members do the main review; finally, all members can comment on any paper. This is designed to reduce bias and improve quality.
This year, 282 papers were submitted, and only 57 were accepted—a rate of 20.21%, which is standard for top conferences. Authors come from 12 countries and regions. All accepted papers will be published and indexed, helping researchers with degrees, projects, and career evaluations.
