Only 3% of companies actually see AI pay off
Many companies have bet big on AI, expecting it to change how they work. But the results so far don't match those expectations.
According to a Gartner survey, only 3% of companies have actually reached goals like higher productivity and lower costs through AI. Still, 85% of them plan to spend more on AI by 2027, even though 38% have already gone over budget.
CV Viverito, a senior director at Gartner, says companies can't cut costs with AI right now. The real opportunity is using AI to do things they couldn't before, like freeing up employee time for new skills and creating results.
Gartner suggests companies focus AI efforts where they can make a real difference, and spread AI knowledge across the whole team, since both leaders and regular employees matter.
