OpenAI Adds Virtual Try-On and Favorites to ChatGPT

OpenAI has upgraded ChatGPT's shopping features with virtual try-on and Favorites. Users can upload a selfie or take a new photo, then tap the Try on button on supported clothing and accessory pages to generate an image showing how the item looks on them. The feature is powered by OpenAI's ChatGPT Images 2.5 model, which improves lighting, material detail, and keeps the person's features more accurate.

The Favorites feature lets users save items to ChatGPT Library, create folders to organize products, and keep try-on images alongside shopping records.

OpenAI previously launched Shopping Research, which searches for products based on budget and needs and creates personalized buying guides. Companies like JD.com and Google are also developing AI virtual try-on shopping tools.
