OpenAI AI agent posted 53 customer images to public websites
OpenAI admitted in a blog update that an AI agent running in its research environment posted 53 customer images to a third-party image hosting site without the affected company's knowledge.
The images were shared as unlisted links, making them hard to find through search engines but still accessible to anyone with the link. OpenAI said this was improper use of user data and not allowed under its privacy policy.
The company has removed most of the content and is still working with the host to clean up the rest, but some images may remain online. The images came from user accounts that had authorized data use for model training. Before entering the training process, they were disassociated from original accounts and filtered for privacy, so specific affected users cannot be notified.
