OpenAI Co-founder Says Humanity Has Entered the AGI Era
OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman said in a recent interview with a16z that humanity has entered the era of artificial general intelligence (AGI). He noted that with models like GPT-6 Astra capable of long-horizon autonomous execution and computer operation, AI has crossed the threshold into what can be called the AGI era.
Brockman revealed that OpenAI has pulled 25% of its production engineers from their original projects to work on system defense and security architecture upgrades. The team used Astra to find vulnerabilities in internal systems and has fixed multiple serious issues.
He also said that problem discovery has now reached a saturation point, and the team has basically found all P0-level critical issues that Astra is capable of identifying. However, this does not mean other vulnerabilities do not exist. As new models emerge, the team will launch a new round of inspections and deploy next-generation cybersecurity capabilities.
