OpenAI Hires a Top Communications Chief from Uber

OpenAI has announced that Jill Hazelbaker has joined the company as Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. She will lead OpenAI's global communications and corporate positioning work.

Jill has a strong background in both tech and politics. Before joining OpenAI, she served as President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Uber, leading teams in global communications, marketing, public policy, security, and HR. She also held similar roles at Snap and Google earlier in her career.

Her career began in US politics. She was the national communications director and chief spokesperson for Senator John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign, and worked as press secretary for former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

OpenAI President Greg Brockman said that as AI touches more lives, communicating with the public and earning trust matters more than ever. He called Jill the right leader for OpenAI's next stage.
