OpenAI Stock Slumps in Resale Market, Investors Shift to Rival Anthropic
The investment trend in the AI sector is changing—OpenAI's shares in the secondary market have suddenly become hard to sell. Ken Smith, founder of Next Round Capital, said about $600 million worth of OpenAI shares on the platform have no buyers, while investors have $2 billion ready to invest in Anthropic.
The valuation gap between the two makes investors think Anthropic offers better risk-reward, and Anthropic performs stronger in the enterprise customer market with promising growth potential. Additionally, factors like OpenAI's rising operating costs and slow enterprise customer expansion have made some investors cautious.
