OpenClaw Frenzy Fades: Easy to Install, Hard to Uninstall—Users Pay Hundreds for Residue Cleanup
The frenzy around OpenClaw (nicknamed 'Lobster') is fading, as many users seek uninstallation services. On second-hand platforms, 'complete OpenClaw uninstallation' services have quietly emerged—merchants charge 299 yuan for on-site removal and 199 yuan for remote cleanup, including terminating background processes and deleting residual configurations. Users uninstall for various reasons: lagging performance, frequent pop-ups, or even API key theft leading to high bills.
The National Internet Emergency Center issued a risk alert, stating OpenClaw has four major security risks like prompt injection and malicious plugin poisoning. Some users received 12,000 yuan Token bills due to stolen keys, while others lost data from AI misoperations. This craze has made many realize that following the 'lobster-raising' trend comes with cost and security risks.
