OpenRouter, an AI model hub, gets buyout interest from big tech firms
OpenRouter, the world's largest AI model hub, is getting buyout interest from several big tech companies. The potential deal could value it higher than the 1.3 billion dollars it was worth after its Series B funding in May this year. The platform brings together over 400 AI models, has 8 million users, and processes about 100 trillion tokens each month. By early 2026, it was making around 50 million dollars a year in revenue. Just two months ago, it raised 113 million dollars in Series B funding led by Alphabet's growth fund CapitalG, which valued it at 1.3 billion dollars. That's more than double its 547 million dollar valuation from its Series A round last June. For now, this is still just a rumor, and OpenRouter hasn't commented yet.
