Reddit CEO: New Grads Are More 'AI-Native', Company Plans to Boost Campus Recruitment
Reddit co-founder and CEO Steve Huffman stated in a podcast that the company will vigorously recruit new graduates because they are far more 'AI-native' than older generations. 'Today's new grads learned coding with AI and are good at using AI to write code, while old-timers like me once hesitated to give up hand-writing code,' he said. Young people have no burden of traditional programming and can use AI to work efficiently directly.
Huffman warned that not hiring new graduates would be a costly mistake—'If you don't hire them when they graduate, you may never be able to hire them in the future because they are too valuable.' He emphasized that AI will not reduce the number of engineering team members; instead, more AI-savvy talents are needed. Reddit's current market value is $26.7 billion.
