Samsung Plans to Integrate Multiple AI Models into Galaxy Phones to Reduce Apple's Market Advantage
Samsung Electronics plans to form strategic partnerships with multiple AI companies (such as OpenAI) to integrate various AI models into its smartphones, aiming to reduce Apple's leading position in the global market. Co-CEO TM Roh stated that consumers increasingly prefer using multiple AI services instead of relying on a single platform, and this strategy will help Galaxy devices stand out while Apple has not yet launched many of its AI features announced last year.
In February this year, Samsung announced a collaboration with AI search platform Perplexity to integrate it as a system-level AI agent into the next-generation Galaxy S26 series. Users can wake Perplexity via the exclusive voice command "Hey, Plex" or long-pressing the side key. It can run seamlessly in core apps like notes and calendars, as well as some third-party apps, marking a shift in Galaxy AI towards an open ecosystem.
