Shanghai man uses AI to rewrite articles and gets caught
Shanghai police found a man using AI to rewrite articles and cheat a content platform. He grabbed popular stories, changed them with AI software, and posted them as original to get money from the platform.
The man, named Zhang, started in early 2024. He hired over 1,000 people to use their accounts to post these fake articles. Each helper got a few yuan per day. Zhang made about 18,000 yuan in two months.
The court sentenced Zhang to six months in prison, suspended for a year, and fined him 5,000 yuan. All 1,099 accounts were banned, and the AI software was shut down. Officials warn this kind of cheating could lead to more serious crimes like fake ads or online scams.
