Solana Network Processes 15 Million On-Chain AI Agent Payments; Stablecoins Become Default Settlement Tool for Machine Transactions
High-frequency small-value transactions between machines have long been a problem for traditional payments—high fees, slow settlement, and inability to support sub-cent microtransactions. Recently, the Chief Product Officer of Solana Foundation revealed at the New York Digital Asset Summit that the Solana network has processed 15 million on-chain payments initiated by AI agents, mainly for machine-to-machine commercial interactions, and stablecoins are becoming the default settlement tool for these payments.
The programmable payment features of AI agents give them obvious advantages in crypto scenarios, supporting sub-cent usage-based billing. Solana's high throughput and low fee characteristics fit this demand well; in the future, 95%-99% of crypto transactions may be initiated by large language models, and users will interact with crypto networks through AI agents. However, this trend still faces challenges such as smart contract security and cross-chain interoperability.
