South Korea's March ICT Exports Hit Record High, Semiconductor Exports Exceed $30 Billion for First Time
Driven by the AI boom and a booming semiconductor market, South Korea's March ICT product exports reached a historic high. According to data from South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT, March ICT exports totaled $43.51 billion, a 112% year-on-year increase, accounting for 50.5% of total national exports and growing for 14 consecutive months.
Semiconductor exports were particularly strong, surging 151.4% year-on-year to $32.84 billion—breaking the $30 billion mark for the first time, mainly due to increased memory chip exports driven by strong global server demand. Computer and peripheral exports rose 174.1% to $3.59 billion, while mobile phone exports increased 57% to $1.54 billion. However, display and communication device exports fell 9.3% and 5.8% year-on-year respectively.
In the same period, ICT imports stood at $16.15 billion, up 32.2% year-on-year, resulting in a trade surplus of $27.36 billion.
