Supor's AI Ads Spark Outrage, Videos Removed Without Apology
Supor, a Chinese cookware brand, has faced widespread criticism for posting several AI-generated short videos with inappropriate content. These videos depicted scenarios like a woman entering a bathroom while men are present, or cleaners walking in during showers or toilet use, with titles like "Uncle has seen everything." After the backlash, Supor quietly removed the videos without a public apology. A store customer service confirmed the store is officially certified, but neither Supor nor the store has responded directly. Supor's 2025 annual report mentioned plans to gradually use AI in images, short videos, and livestreams to boost marketing efficiency, and its official Weibo carries an "AI-generated" label. In the first half of 2026, Supor's revenue was 11.41 billion yuan, down 0.59% year-on-year, with net profit attributable to shareholders at 868 million yuan, down 7.7%.
