Tencent's Liu Chiping on WeChat Agent: Active Progress but No Specific Timeline, Facing Privacy and Model Capability Challenges

At Tencent Holdings' 2025 performance communication meeting, President Liu Chiping responded to the latest progress of WeChat Agent. He stated that Tencent has tried multiple AI functions in WeChat, hoping to pave the way for the future WeChat Agent through previews. WeChat connects users closely, has a rich ecosystem and mature business model, enabling many practical functions and benefiting partners.

Liu Chiping mentioned that there are still challenges in the promotion process: user privacy and security need to be protected, general models are difficult to adapt to WeChat's unique functions (requiring further improvement of model capabilities), and the large user scale has extremely high requirements for reasoning ability.

Currently, there is no specific timeline for WeChat Agent, but the project is being actively promoted.
