Trump Announces Super Intelligence Force to Keep the US Leading in AI
US President Donald Trump has announced a new Super Intelligence Force, led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton. FTC Chair Andrew Ferguson, Defense official Emil Michael and others will serve as vice chairs.
The group's job is to coordinate AI-related work across the federal government and keep the US leading the world in super intelligence. Trump has already signed an executive order pushing to rename "AI" as "super intelligence," and tech executives used the new term when signing a safety pledge at the White House.
Under its charter, the group must deliver a report within 120 days on AI risks and opportunities, draw up plans for super intelligence threats, and avoid over-regulation that could stifle innovation and competition.
