Trump Plans to Appoint Tech Giants Including Zuckerberg and Huang Renxun to Tech Committee for AI Policy Input
According to WSJ, U.S. President Trump plans to appoint tech giants such as Meta CEO Zuckerberg, Oracle founder Ellison, and Nvidia CEO Huang Renxun to a tech committee to provide input on AI policy and other issues. The committee, named the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), will be co-chaired by White House AI and crypto advisor Sachs and tech advisor Michael Kratsios.
Trump intends to appoint the first 13 industry members on Wednesday, including Google co-founder Sergey Brin, with the final committee size possibly reaching 24 members (per executive order). This move reflects the U.S. government's tendency to integrate industry forces to formulate regulatory strategies for key technologies, while also needing to address potential challenges of conflicts of interest and policy transparency.
