Tuya Smart Unveils Doova Home Companion Robot for Elderly Care
At the 5th Global Digital Trade Expo, Tuya Smart showcased its home companion robot Doova. The product is designed for elderly people living alone, and can move around the house, talk with users, and connect with smart home devices.
Currently, Doova mainly offers companionship, daily reminders, and emergency alerts. It cannot do chores yet. If an elderly person falls, they can call the robot for help. The robot will then try to assess the situation and contact family members or relevant institutions. If the person cannot call for help, smart watches and bands connected to the system can also trigger an alert after detecting abnormalities.
The product can also link with smart home devices. For example, if a user says "I'm home," the robot can turn on the air conditioner, humidifier, and entertainment devices. The price and launch date of Doova have not been determined yet. Tuya Smart PR director Qian Xiaoyu said the company hopes to keep the price within the range of "a smartphone," but the exact number is not yet settled.
