Unitree Tech and HKU Research Institute Establish Joint Lab for Embodied Intelligence, Accelerating AI-Robot Integration Applications
Unitree Technology and the Shanghai Institute of Intelligent Computing of the University of Hong Kong recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Shanghai and officially unveiled the Joint Laboratory for Embodied Intelligence.
The lab will focus on core directions such as next-generation white-box neural network architectures and world models, conducting systematic research for scenarios like general-purpose robots. Ma Yi, Dean of HKU's School of Computing and Data Science, stated that he expects to drive China's AI to lead the development of artificial intelligence and physical agents both on and off screens through collaboration.
With the mechanism of 'real platforms supporting cutting-edge algorithms, academic innovation empowering industrial implementation', Unitree provides robot bodies and control platforms, while the institute focuses on algorithm and system architecture innovation. This collaboration aims to accelerate breakthroughs in environmental perception, real-time decision-making and other technologies, pushing embodied intelligence to real scenarios like industrial inspection and service companionship.
