Unity China CEO: AI won't replace game engines, games are more than just scenes
Zhang Junbo, CEO of Unity China, said at the Unity Engine 2.0 launch that AI lowers the bar for game development and is actually good for engine companies. He doesn't think AI will replace game engines, because making a game is about systems like rules, numbers, and long-term updates, not just visuals. He also doubts the idea of "making a game with one sentence," saying a virtual world from AI isn't the same as a game you can run for years. Unity Engine 2.0 now includes AI tools like "Unity Codely" and supports PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and other platforms, covering PCs, mobile, mini-games, and smart car systems.
