US Judge Denies OpenAI Request, Apple Won't Have to Reveal SpaceXAI Settlement
A federal judge in Texas, Mark Pittman, has denied OpenAI's request, ruling that Apple does not have to make public its confidential antitrust settlement with SpaceXAI.
The judge said that while there is precedent for revealing confidential settlements, it only applies when the deal contains information relevant to the specific disputes in the case. After a closed-door review, the court found that the SpaceXAI-Apple settlement does not contain information related to OpenAI's disputes.
Previously, Musk's X and SpaceXAI withdrew their antitrust lawsuit against Apple, but their pursuit of OpenAI continues. OpenAI had suspected there was more to the Apple-SpaceXAI settlement, prompting the judge to order the agreement's disclosure.
