User Uses Qwen3.8 LLM to Crack IDM Paid License Autonomously
A post about using large language models to crack paid software has drawn attention on Reddit, a US social platform. User No_Ideal8394 claims to have used the uncensored Qwen3.8-Flash-Next-Uncensored model to successfully crack Internet Download Manager (IDM) version 6.43, bypassing its trial limit and making it appear fully activated.
The user fed the AI about 250,000 tokens of context and let the model directly analyze the local executable file. After roughly 30 minutes, the AI provided a working patch. No step-by-step human guidance was needed, and the model removed IDM's registration check by modifying just one byte. The user spent 5 euros renting a cloud GPU and saved the annual license fee of $11.95 per computer.
The incident has sparked discussion about AI's ability to automatically analyze software. Industry insiders note a clear difference between AI helping understand code and actually bypassing commercial software licenses, which also involves copyright, licensing agreements and legal liability. Commercial software typically uses code obfuscation, integrity checks and hardware binding as protection.
