Walmart Bans AI-Made Signs in Stores to Keep Brand Consistent
Walmart has updated its store rules to ban signs and posters made with AI tools. All store signs should normally be ordered through the company's official catalog, with only urgent cases allowed to get help from the photo lab.
The move targets a growing habit among store and restaurant managers: skipping professional designers and using tools like ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini to make announcements and promo materials. It saves money and time, but the quality is often poor and can hurt the brand's image.
Deli and grocery stores are especially keen on using AI for menus and signs, which customers often dislike. YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok and Meta have also introduced similar limits on AI-generated content.
