World's First: Dimensity 9500 Platform Enables 20B LLM to Run Natively on Mobile Phones
At the 2026 MediaTek Dimensity Developer Conference, Phison Electronics and MediaTek jointly demonstrated the world's first mobile-native large model platform, successfully running a 20B large language model natively on the Dimensity 9500 platform.
This achievement relies on Phison's patented aiDAPTIV Hybrid UFS solution, combining cache and middleware technology to dynamically offload some MoE model weights to the UFS storage layer. It reduces DRAM dependency—models that once needed 16GB+ DRAM can now run smoothly on 12GB, boosting the feasibility of deploying large models on end devices.
MediaTek also unveiled its full-stack technology and product portfolio, including Dimensity AI Agent Engine 2.0 and AI Development Kit 3.0, aiming to turn devices from phones to cars into native AI agents.
