Xiaohongshu is building an AI shopping guide

Xiaohongshu is building a new AI shopping guide that lets users chat with it and get product cards and order links directly in the conversation. The project is led by Daoxuan (Pan Boyuan). Earlier, Xiaohongshu already used AI to summarize store reviews for shoppers.

In late April, Xiaohongshu announced a new AI department called Dots and an enterprise intelligence team to boost its AI efforts. The company has been pushing e-commerce hard lately. In 2023, it merged e-commerce and livestreaming into a new trading department. In August 2025, it added a "Market" page at the bottom of the app, featuring livestreams and product notes, so users can shop while browsing.
