YouTube Opens Face and Voice Detection Tech to Entertainment Industry to Combat AI Deepfakes
AI deepfake technology has become more accessible—while opening creative possibilities, it also lets bad actors create deceptive content, making fake content control a key industry concern. In response, Google-owned YouTube is opening its face and voice detection tech to the entertainment industry, its latest step against unauthorized AI-generated content.
The system works like YouTube’s Content ID but focuses on AI audio/video copying others’ faces or voices. When suspicious content is flagged, affected parties can review and request immediate removal, skipping slow reporting channels. Previously available to officials, candidates and journalists, it now covers entertainers (even without YouTube channels) and is optimized via partnerships with CAA, UTA and other agencies.
