AI agent suspected of deleting a whole season of Swedish reality show
Swedish reality show The Challenge Sverige was set to premiere on November 22, but has been pushed to next year. According to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, an AI agent was given access to servers at production company Mastiff, and reportedly deleted the entire upcoming season just weeks before it was due to air.
The deleted files could not be recovered, so hundreds of staff had to re-edit the whole season from scratch, losing a year of work. TV4, the channel airing the show, confirmed the delay was due to a "technical failure" but said it did not know whether AI deleted the files.
TV4's program director Mia Lindqvist said the AI did not act on its own - the real problem was a failed backup system, and the original footage is still intact, so she blamed "human factors". Still, her explanation does not fully rule out AI's involvement. The show's host Ahmed Berhan joked that AI's threat is just getting started.
