AI chip startup Tensordyne claims 17x energy efficiency over Nvidia Blackwell
North American-European AI chip startup Tensordyne launched its AI inference system Tensordyne Napier (TDN. The company claims it's 17 times more energy-efficient than Nvidia's Blackwell system and offers 13 times the throughput.
Built with Broadcom and HPE Juniper Networks, the core Napier processor uses a logarithmic math design that replaces complex multiplication in AI tasks with simpler addition. The chip is made using TSMC's 3nm process and includes lots of SRAM cache and HBM memory, with super-fast communication between chips.
Tensordyne created a "inference pod" called TDN72 with 72 Napier chips. One rack can hold four pods, totaling 288 chips. This system can handle huge language model tasks at 1,000 tokens per second per user, potentially generating an extra $33 million in revenue per year.
