AI-generated Fake Buyer Shows Abused by Unscrupulous Merchants, Consumers Struggle to Distinguish Truth from Falsehood
When shopping online, buyer shows and reviews are core references for consumers to judge product quality and fit. However, recently, some e-commerce platforms have seen AI-generated exquisite "buyer shows" replacing real photos, leading consumers to find a big gap between received goods and the shows, making buyer shows lose their original reference value.
Consumers report that platforms do not label AI-generated images, easily causing a sense of being cheated; merchants say AI image generation saves time and effort, and there are even tutorials on social platforms guiding the whole process. Experts point out that most platforms have rules prohibiting fabricated reviews, but the implementation of review mechanisms is incomplete.
According to China's E-commerce Law and Consumer Rights Protection Law, merchants must disclose information truthfully and not engage in false advertising. Consumers can pay attention to image details when shopping online: those that are overly perfect or lack real scenes may be AI-generated.
