AI Search Platform Sued Over Pirated Links, Court Rules No Liability
Jia Mou Company, which holds the information network dissemination rights to TV series "Zhuang Ding Ye Shi Bing" and "An Hua", found that the top result on an AI search platform when entering the drama names was a third-party pirated cloud disk link. It then sued the platform operator Mi Mou Company for infringement and claimed tens of thousands of yuan in compensation.
Mi Mou Company argued that the search results were generated by algorithms without human intervention, and it promptly disconnected the links after receiving complaints. The court found the platform did not manually edit results, had fulfilled algorithm filing obligations, and established complaint channels.
The court ruled the platform was entitled to technical neutrality exemption under transparent algorithms, dismissing the plaintiff's claims; the second instance upheld the original judgment. The judge stated the decision balances the interests of all parties and protects the healthy development of the AI industry.
